Initial North Zone Diamond Drilling Results

 #11-03

Vancouver, British Columbia, September 23, 2003: Roca Mines Inc. ("Roca") announces the discovery of a precious metal zone down dip from the BRT showing located at the Foremore Project. The BRT showing is a gold and silver enriched volcanogenic-massive-sulphide ("VMS") outcrop discovered by Roca crews in early July 2003 (see ROK #8-03) and has recently been the target of an initial diamond drilling program (see ROK #10-03).

Partial assays have been received from drillhole FM03-11 which tested the stratigraphy immediately down dip and to the northeast along strike of the BRT showing. The overall sulphide interval in drillhole FM03-11 occurs between 85.1 and 101.0m (a total of 15.9m), and within this, a 2.3m interval fire assayed 7.92 g/t gold. Fire assays for silver are pending for this drillhole. The Company is also currently awaiting all other assays for core samples in the remaining holes drilled in this initial program, and for recent surface channel samples taken at the BRT Showing.

Hole FM03-11 drilled through an overlying metamorphosed sequence of mafic volcanics, then through a felsic tuff unit up to 40m thick that hosts the sulphide zone and then ended in footwall carbonaceous sediments. Sulphides are noted to principally comprise laminated, disseminated to semi-massive pyrite, with minor sphalerite and galena.

Diamond drilling confirms down-dip thickening of the overall sulphide zone as well as thickening of the felsic unit that hosts the BRT massive sulphide. Surface mapping has indicated that the favourable stratigraphy extends for at least two kilometres along strike.

All assaying was carried out by ACME Analytical Laboratories of Vancouver, BC. Sampling and core logging was conducted under the supervision of Mr. W. A (Sandy) Sears, P.Geo., a qualified person under NI 43-101.
